In-Depth Review + Zoom

Highly detailed written feedback that aims to tackle the script at the deepest level. Includes a one hour Zoom call, after written notes are sent, in which we  workshop potential areas and directions for the rewrite.

Mentorship

The most comprehensive and in-depth option. A longer term process that can start at the idea stage or rewrite, with consistent guidance, notes, and feedback in written form and via Zoom, in addition to wider industry guidance.

Daniel’s approach to screenwriting, and analyzing scripts, is not merely about Three-Act Structure or Save the Cat formula, both of which can be successful starting-points, but about creating strong, complex characters who must navigate thematically-relevant conflict. This approach often requires digging deep into the real meaning behind a screenplay, and the writer’s reasons for making it. This ultimately creates richer, more powerful, and more memoriable stories that . Helping writers reach this layer of depth with their scripts, in any genre, is a passion of his. It is about finding what makes a script a great STORY that is larger than the sum of its parts, rather than merely a series of events. Daniel believes it is this process that can create the meaningful, layered, and exciting screenplays that reverberate in a reader’s mind long after the final “FADE OUT.”

Daniel’s produced screenplays include the cycling sports drama “Hard Miles” starring Golden-Globe nominee Matthew Modine and Oscar nominee Sean Astin, and the psychosexual thriller “Succubus” starring Ron Perlman and Rosanna Arquette. As a director, he helped shape the rewrite of feature film “Miss Virginia” via his feedback process. The film went on to star Uzo Aduba, Oscar-Nom Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Vanessa Williams. His films have played at prestigious festivals such as Chicago International, Heartland, and Cinequest, and won numerous audience awards, acting awards, and technical awards, as well as the Jimmy Stewart Legacy Award. He has had numerous spec scripts optioned, and has been a writer for hire on several screenplays. These works have played theatrically nationally and internationally and been distributed by Netflix, Amazon Prime, BET, and on DVD. He is a winner of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Nicholl Fellowship for Screenwriting, often cited as the most prestigious screenwriting award for new writers. He is also a winner of the ScreenCraft Feature Horror Screenplay Award, ScreenCraft Feature Comedy Award, the Slamdance Horror Screenplay Award, and a finalist for the Austin Comedy Screenplay Award, Austin Drama Screenplay Award, and two-time finalist for the ScriptPipeline Screenwriting Award. His award-winning or produced genres include Thriller, Horror, Sports, Comedy, Action-Comedy, Action, Drama, and Dramatic Pilot.
